Hartwood Campfires & Country Music Festival is held at Hartwood, a 1680-acre property on the Coolah-Gunnedah Road in central New South Wales (previously owned by Paul and Hele McCloud), with new owner, Chrys & Maria Kelly, who purchased the property early in 2015 choosing to continue the running of this ever-popular festival, so it will again be staged over the Easter weekend in 2016.

Whether travelling north or south, you’ll find it difficult to miss the entrance to the Hartwood property. Moreover, from a few weeks prior to Easter, there are many signs advising of the approaching turn-off to the Hartwood property.

Every Easter, the Hartwood gates open to the public to enjoy first-class entertainment in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. A campfire stage, set amongst the gum trees, presents a combination of professional and ‘walk up’ artists every night from Wednesday through to Sunday, while a second stage provides non-stop professional entertainment on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday and Sunday, with great country music.

Campers are encouraged to come early and most do.  In previous years, gates opened on the Monday prior to the Easter break and ‘early bird’ campers lined up waiting for the gates to open at 8.00 am to bag their favourite spot. Hartwood 2016 will see the introduction of earlier than usual opening of the gates, this being another week prior to normal, which will give campers the option to further their stay in the surroundings of the peace and tranquillity of the bush Hartwood has to offer.

Hartwood has been called the people’s festival – pets and children attend for free. Hundreds of caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers and a sprinkling of tents gather here for the week to enjoy the entertainment and also the camping experience.

There is no power, no showers, but plenty of spring water on tap, lots of portable toilets and a number of flushing toilets. The week tests innovative endeavours in ‘roughing it’ on a private property, which is a mix of open paddocks and shady trees.

Many groups camp in the same area each year and names have been given to some parts of the property, such as Dusty Paddock, Naughty Nook, Iron Bark Haven.

Why not come earlier this year?  Many people take the time to visit local towns to dine at a pub, do some shopping, or do some sight-seeing.

Hartwood – you’ll never ever know, if you never ever go!

HARTWOOD is located approx, 160km SW of Tamworth, turn in 20km south of Tambar Springs on the Coolah Road or 40km North of Coolah. Follow signs
